Courtroom designations on local forms

Friday, August 11, 2023

As you are probably aware, as of October 1, 2022, Judge Thuma’s designated courtroom is the Jemez Courtroom, located on the third floor of the Pete V. Domenici United States Courthouse. The Jemez Courtroom does not have a separate hearing room. All of Judge Thuma’s hearings, whether preliminary or final, will be held in the Jemez Courtroom. Final hearings before Judge Jacobvitz will be held in the Brazos Courtroom, and preliminary hearings before Judge Jacobvitz will be held in the hearing room, adjacent to the Brazos Courtroom. The Brazos Courtroom and associated hearing room are located on the fifth floor of the Pete V. Domenici United States Courthouse. The Clerk’s office has modified its forms to accommodate this change. The new language provides:

If any objections are timely filed, the Court will hold a preliminary hearing on ________________, 20____ at ________a.m./p.m., in the presiding judge’s hearing room or courtroom located in the Pete V. Domenici U.S. Courthouse, 333 Lomas Blvd., NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Counsel/parties may appear by telephone by making arrangements with chambers at least one business day before the hearing. For Judge Jacobvitz’s cases, call 505-600-4650 or email jacobvitzstaff@nmb.uscourts.gov. For Judge Thuma’s cases, call 505-600-4640 or email thumastaff@nmb.uscourts.gov. Email requests to appear by telephone must contain your name and telephone number, the debtor’s name and case number, and the date and time of the hearing.

The following forms reflect the change:
