Note from the Court

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

To everyone:

New Mexico issued a public health order yesterday directing the closure of all businesses except certain “essential businesses.” This is a short note to tell you that the Bankruptcy Court remains open for business. While we encourage telephone appearances at non-evidentiary hearings, barring further developments you may appear in person if you meet the criteria to enter the courthouse (see our webpage). We will deal with the possibility of telephone appearances at hearings involving witness testimony on a case-by-case basis. We are holding all hearings in the courtroom where there is plenty of room for “social distancing.”

The clerk’s office is working hard opening and processing cases, mostly by teleworking. We in chambers continue to work without interruption.

We are confident that together we will get through this.
