CM/ECF Filing Agent option

Thursday, December 22, 2016

The Clerk’s Office has activated the Filing Agent functionality in CM/ECF.  Filing Agent is an optional functionality in CM/ECF that allows a registered attorney or trustee to create a filing agent account and assign access permission to their support staff filing documents electronically on their behalf.

The benefits of using the Filing Agent functionality are:

  • Attorneys will no longer need to share their personal CM/ECF login and password with employees. A unique login and password is given to each Filing Agent;
  • Filing Agents can work in CM/ECF simultaneously;
  • When a document is filed by a Filing Agent, the attorney’s name will continue to appear on the docket and report as the filing party; and
  • Attorneys are able to generate a System Transaction Report to view filing activity for each of their registered employees.

By designating a Filing Agent, the attorney agrees to accept full responsibility for any and all actions taken by Filing Agent in the CM/ECF system.

Procedures for Filing Agents are available in the Online Manual located on the Court’s website.

If you have any questions or need help creating a Filing Agent account, please contact the CM/ECF Help Desk at: (505) 415-7999 or 1-866-291-6805, option 4.
